Calculating cost per serving is a better measure of value and can be calculated with this formula:

Cost per serving = Cost per pound or kilogram / # of servings per pound or kilogram

How much to buy:

The amount of pork to buy will depend on the number of servings required and whether the meat is boneless or bone-in. A rule of thumb is to allow ¼ -1/3 lb (125 - 165 g) per person for boneless cuts, 1/3 -1/2 lb (165 - 250 g) for bone-in cuts.
